Thobeka Zilwa
Qualified in BSc Physiotherapy (Hons) in 2004. She has always had a passion in helping people. Her keen interest in sports and
fitness combined with her enthusiasm in helping patients has created a vision in being the next physiotherapist for any professional sporting
teams.
She qualified in OMT 1(Orthopedic Manipulation Therapy1) in 2009. Presently, she is committed in completing her MSc in Sports
and Rehabilitation with Medunsa in 2014. She has also partaken in completing an in-depth course with BASI (Body, Arts and Science
International) Pilates Matwork Instructor course.
The combination of these qualifications makes her eligible to in being a rehabilitation specialist. Her friendly and caring nature, her
knowledge and experience, are unique qualities she possesses when it comes to treating her clients who become friends in the end.
Thobeka is a registered Physiotherapist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. She is also a member of the Sports Interest
Group and Orthopedic Manipulative Techniques Group (OMPTG) of The South African Society of Physiotherapy (SASP).
South African Sports Confederation and Olympics Committee (SASCOC) appointed our Physiotherapist Thobeka Zilwa to provide her services to the Athletes representing South Africa at the African Youth Games 2018 in Algiers, Algeria.
The Team was be made up of four sporting codes, namely archery, athletics, rugby sevens and hockey 5’s (boys and girls).
It was vital that these four codes must compete at these Games as this was the only African qualification opportunity for the Youth Olympic Games taking place in Buenos Aires, Argentina in October 2018.
The last edition of these games, which feature athletes in the 14-18 year age bracket, were held in Gaborone, Botswana four years ago and the inaugural Games were in Rabat, Morocco in 2010.
It was such an honour for Thobeka to be part of this huge event and being able to work with adolescent athletes since she has completed her MSc degree on The Nature and Management of lower limb sporting injuries in high school Rugby and Soccer athletes.
On this event, Thobeka was the physiotherapist looking after the hockey girls’ team who brought home the Gold medal and qualified to go to the Youth Olympics Games 2018 held in Argentina.

Here at our little haven, the Physiotherapy Studio, our first priority is our clients. We provide up to date
evidence based treatment, ensuring recovery and facilitating them to their highest functional capacity. No
matter what your injury or condition, we will work with you to relieve your symptoms and maintain a pain
free state. We assess and treat you in a holistic approach instead of just an injury.
We pride ourselves in offering expertise assessment, treatments and goal specific rehabilitation from the acute
stage of the pathology to long term management.
Our area of special interest is in orthopaedic, sports injury and rehabilitation.
We treat patients throughout Bedfordview and East Rand Districts offering a spacious and relaxing
environment for treatment in our unique premises on Park Street.
